Oak House
When Mary Rose was young her Mother and Father were short of money and used to buy old houses that needed cheering up. They used to use strong colours to cover up cracks in the wall or patches of damp in the corner, and so it wasn’t such a massive leap for Mary Rose to take that strong colours idea one stage further when she bought her first house.
She doesn’t simply buy a bright colour for brightness’ sake…she has a very keen sense of what shade might suit the light of a room or which two colours will work together. She often paints a first coat in one shade then overlays with designs in a darker shade. She doesn’t mind painting over surfaces that would not be recommended for Vinyl Matt. In her living room she has painted over intriguing pointed stone walls, on her stairs she has painted straight onto the wood, and fireplaces too might just be painted over. She also likes to paint over the white vinyl light switches and plug sockets, whyever not? There are no rules to painting a house.
