The Blue Bee Tea Set
Bee tea sets thus far have been in a Vintage Floral pattern; here for the first time we have Blue Rosebush…the whole effect is much more bohemian. Several bees cluster in amongst the flowers diligently collecting ceramic nectar, but a couple of their colleagues sit rather vacantly on top of lids, and furthermore they have the broadest of grins on their faces. Are they congratulating themselves for not doing any work? Or are their grins just a bit too broad…do they have any idea about what is supposed to be happening here? But it is their grins that I find so disarming about this whole set…. The artist is not saying “isn’t this a work of great beauty”, she is saying “isn’t life just great?” Find the teapot here
