The Restless Swirls
This is a Large Rose Encrusted Bowl in Roses on Swirls design. It was actually ordered and made as a wash hand basin and the photograph doesn’t show the hole in the base for the plug. I think the customer will have it installed on a wooden cabinet and the water supply will be a long independent pipe hanging above. This Rose on Swirls design has a moving quality to it and even though a lot of people have compared it to Van Gogh’s Starry Night Skies, I now realise that there is a similarity with the sight of water swirling around as it exits a basin or sink…. Not that we’re thinking of re-naming the design “Waste Water”! Like all Mary Rose’s large pieces it’s a miracle wrought from layers of decorative endeavour.
