Princess Anne and Mary Rose
If you have read a few of these newsletters you may have heard about the Outdoor Swimming Pool in Lydney that Mary Rose loves. Their Centenary was last month and the plans for a huge gathering complete with marching bands and jousting tournaments had to be scaled down just a little because of, well you know why. But nevertheless it was made Super Special by Princess Anne who made a triumphal entry to give the occasion a seal of celebratory shine that will ensure it will be remembered forever. And Mary Rose felt it appropriate to present this much adored member of the Royal Family one of her Egg Cups. In many ways the Virus Restrictions created an atmosphere reminiscent of a Medieval Court because she couldn’t approach the Princess nor “shake her hand” in any modern familiar way… in the olden days she couldn’t have even looked at her of course….in the picture you can see the egg cup placed on a table for one of the Princess’ aides to pick up for her later. So of course in our own minds we are now “By Royal Appointment”
