Dexter Loves Mary Rose Young Too

We had one of those “spotting a MRY piece on TV” moments this week….. my daughter Matilda was watching Episode 1 Series 3 of Dexter and something she saw jerked her out of the fictional landscape she was inhabiting……it was a Medium Jug in New Rose Red as you can see above. Dexter was Miami based I think – I wonder where they got it from….the colour certainly mirrors the show’s preoccupation with blood! The piece does appear to be a little older than the probable shooting year of around 2005.

    Hello from California. They filmed most of Dexter around Long Beach, I believe, which is in the southern most part of Los Angeles county. If there was a dealer or retailer around LA or Orange County back then, that’s a good guess. I can’t find any MRY out here, though. I can see why a set designer or prop master would be drawn to it. I imagine they stockpile mountains of of objects that will pop onscreen and give context or character. I saw a beer pilsner from my tiny hometown brewery in Indiana in The Good Place finale and I flipped. Who knows where they found either of them. But just think – this jug has probably made numerous appearances in film and television!
